Welcome to Emerald Star Cruises

MV Emerald Star is a registered *historic vessel*, an icon of Sydney Harbour, that offers unique opportunities for your private functions, island transfers, sunrise champers & hot croissants or just a lazy daytime or evening cruise with unrivalled panoramic harbour views.


From its home base in Lavender Bay, its size allows to carry an extended charter party of up to 99 passengers and for transfers a maximum guest count of 150 passengers, yet small enough to access restrictive areas like Darling Harbour, Lane Cove River to Middle Harbour or upstream via the Parramatta River to The Armoury at Homebush and virtually any wharf on the harbour, without restrictions.


Being owner-operated, it offers exceptional value with catering options, Fully licensed, (Liquor Licence No. LIQO660011325) and entertainment facilities including 1000W sound system with plug in’s for IPOD, IPAD, Computer and PA for DJ’s or live bands. 

Emerald Star invites you to experience the realm of old world charm and personalised service aboard the 20 metre magnificent heritage-listed ferry. Emerald Star has been entertaining people on Harbour Cruises since it’s launch in 1942. This historically listed vessel is considered by many as an icon of Sydney Harbour. Whether relaxing and enjoying a cruise during the day or dancing the night away under the lights of Sydney Harbour, Emerald Star will cater for all function types in all weather conditions.

Emerald Star has been accepted onto the Australian Register of Historic Vessels No: HV000325.

Terms and Conditions

To guarantee and secure your booking with Emerald Star Cruises a minimum of $200.00 is required within a week of confirming the booking

The balance of the charter fee is to be paid 10 days prior the date of the confirmed charter.

A refundable security bond of $500.00 is required to be paid on or before the cruise, the bond is to be repaid in full to the client subject to no damages, undue mess or theft incurred.

Intoxicated passengers will not be permitted to board the vessel under any circumstance.

The Emerald Star has a policy on the Responsible Service of Alcohol.

If a cruise is cancelled within 7 days of departure the deposit will be forfeited unless another cruise can be booked or the cruise can be rebooked in the future at a similar time as the cancelled cruise,

Confirmation of passenger numbers : The charterer or hirer will advise Emerald Star Cruises of the numbers of passengers prior to the cruise at least 7 days for Catered Cruises 

In the event of any photographs or video footage being taken on board the Emerald Star we reserve the right to use such images for promotions including brochures, websites etc. ( consent will be sought from passengers before going to print )

Emerald Star Cruises reserves the right to terminate a cruise on immediate notice at any time during a cruise due to unacceptable behaviour or intoxication among the passengers for the safety of vessel, passengers and crew on board.

Charter time commences when the vessel docks in at the allocated wharf and finishes at the predetermined wharf, this will be for agreed cruise times being the standard four hour or any agreed variation to this.

Inner Harbour wharves, eg; Opera House, Circular Quay and Darling Harbour Pyrmont or the Casino, attract a $50.00 surcharge for landing and pickups, this is payable by Emerald Star Cruise as a levy by NSW Maritime. (RMS) 

The passenger acknowledges that during the cruise the vessel will be under the absolute control of the Master and that direction and control of the vessel and its crew is at all times the responsibility of the Master to ensure the safety and welfare of the vessel, its passengers and crew.

The Passenger releases Emerald Star Cruises for any claim whatsoever including a claim for death or bodily injury damage or loss of property at all times whilst onboard the Emerald Star unless caused by wanton recklessness of the Master or crew.

Passengers shall not bring onboard, explosives, firearms or flammable materials of any kind.
